After 10 wonderful years together, EverUndaunted and I decided to try something a bit different for our anniversary. After hearing rumours of people meandering the globe in search of small boxes we decided to take up the challenge and see what this Geocaching thing is all about.
So using our GPS enabled phones, our bicycles, our wit and our guile, we embarked on an adventure that we have now realised will likely never end. Finding treasure in our very own city, often in locales that we had spent time in or passed through without ever realising that anything was hidden our of view was exhilarating. Furthermore, having a mission including specific areas to go and search proved more compelling than simply going out for a bike ride. It give purpose and direction, and while it involves outdoor exercise, it doesn’t feel like a chore in the way that going to the gym did.
